Seven Tips on How to Set up Your Eco-Wardrobe

The fashion industry impacts the environment a lot. Of course, the responsibility, for the most part, is on the brand owners. However, being consumers, we can minimize the harmfulness.

Here are seven essential rules that can help us to create an eco-wardrobe:

1. Buying clothes, check out the composition of the fiber. The tissues with one or two kinds of threads can be recycled easier.

2. Try to avoid buying clothes with excessive details such as decorative zips, sparkles and beads. This group of clothing is hard to be recycled, or not to be recycled at all.

3. If you need an outfit for a single event, party dress or character clothes, rent it instead of buying. It is not wrong to think about it, even preparing your marriage.

4. Do your best to avoid impulse purchases. Don't take the shopping like a sort of therapy, and don't shop just to join the crowd - there are more productive ways for being social.

5. Take care of your clothes precisely as marked on the labels to have them in good condition as long as possible. It goes with washing, ironing and drying.

6. Preparing for travel, take time and think about your suitcase backwards and forward. Being far from home, you don't need to buy extra pieces just because you didn't check out local weather conditions.

7. Don't hesitate to buy things in vintage boutiques, second-hand shops, and garage sales: this could be the right way to decrease their carbon footprint. Furthermore, offer a second life to your clothes, recycling them or giving to needy persons.
