Eco-Friendly Soap Making

Soap making is an alchemical process. I always work alone - no phone, no music, feeling zen. I am pretty sure making something that would be used on skin demands a lot of positive energy. So, to prepare a high-quality soap, I have to be in good health, good mood, maximum organized, utterly concentrated.

With this in mind, one of the main rules is to respect the ecological aspects of making eco-friendly products. First, use natural raw materials only. I would never add any chemical substitutes of any ingredient, such as inexpensive colourants or fragrances - this is our golden standard.

Besides, all the soapmaking equipment, including gloves, mask, moulds all are reusable. I wash them thoroughly out and set aside in the box until the next soap making session.

The countertop I cover with any kind old recycling paper and dispose of it in the green bin once the job is done.

Finally, I wrap my soap bars with recyclable paper and fill the packages with popcorn instead of plastic filler.

This is my eco-way to making soap, but still, I've been asking myself what I can add or change to be more nature-friendly? I hope not only me but all the people who take responsibility for the future of the planet.
